Functional consequences of altered connectivity in schizophrenia; the early secretory pathway's role in neurodevelopment and synaptogenesis

Research Summary

Dr. Fish and his colleagues are interested in two different, but converging research areas: (1) identifying how key cells, potential pharmacological targets, involved in GABA neurotransmission are affected in schizophrenia; (2) defining the functional role of the early secretory pathway in neuronal polarity, development, and synaptogenesis. Studies utilize primary cells/tissue and advanced microscopy methodologies.
