Diversity and Inclusion

The Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh is committed to training neuroscientists who come from a wide range of ethnic, cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We value diversity. We are committed to closing gaps in experience, environment, and opportunity within the CNUP on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, religion, political affiliation, physical and mental ability/disability, or age. We recognize that we have a long way to go. Nevertheless, we are working to address institutionalized racism and discrimination within the CNUP and thereby enhance the academic environment for all trainees and faculty. We are promoting discussion in the academic community about structural inequality in academia and engage the entirety of the CNUP in substantive change with the goal of establishing a standard by which diversity is embraced in its contribution to scientific and educational excellence.
